Our 5th and 6th grade students participate weekly in a Writer’s Workshop. They complete projects utilizing their developing writing skills throughout the year.
Personal Interviews
Students learned to write open-ended and follow-up questions. They interviewed someone familiar to them, to learn new stories about their family. Finally, students created storyboards and animated videos incorporating their recorded interview.

Write Your Own Adventure
Students have written stories in second-person point of view. After studying the parts of a story, they wrote choices, deviations, and resolutions to each storyline. After editing with Google Docs, they created Canva slideshows using a template. They imported their writing project, linked each choice in their slideshow, and used AI to illustrate!
